Jewels
Mar 18 – Apr 24, 2022
MIAMI I WEST PALM BEACH I BROWARD
Jewels has long been described as a perfect night at the theater. Inspired by a visit to famed jewelers Van Cleef & Arpels, Balanchine created three unique mini-ballets that sweep you away to far-away times and cultures. Each distinctive ‘jewel’ enhances and complements the others, and the dancers shine like brilliant bursts of light. To see these three exquisite ballets in one evening is an unforgettable experience.
“If I lived in Florida, I would attend every performance.” The New York Times
Performed to live orchestra
Recommended for ages 4 and up
Duration: 2hr 10min (including 2 x 20 min intermissions)
Program includes:
Emeralds
Gliding to Fauré’s dreamy melody, the dancers appear in a lush evocation of a misty forest, seemingly transported from the French romantic era of the early 19th century.

Gabriel Fauré
Rubies
Rubies is quintessentially American – pulsating with sass, wit and sophistication. The dancers’ hip-swiveling freshness and Stravinsky’s jazzy score conjures the vibrancy and exuberance of a late-night club.

Igor Stravinsky
Diamonds
Diamonds is pure, beautiful classical ballet and a tribute to the grandeur of Imperial Russia. Tchaikovsky’s elegant symphony recalls majestic pageantry at its most opulent.
